Nickel Platings
Nickel Plating for coating any metallic substrate material.
Bright Nickel & Sulfamate Nickel
Nickel appearance can range from color of stainless steel to white, dull or bright; hardness range 150-500 Vickers. Corrosion resistance is a function of coating thickness. Has low coefficient of thermal expansion; is magnetic.
Deposit Thickness
CLASS 1: for corrosion protection
Grade A 0.0016" minimum thickness
Grade B 0.0012" minimum thickness
Grade C 0.0010" minimum thickness
Grade D 0.0008" minimum thickness
Grade E 0.0006" minimum thickness
Grade F 0.0004" minimum thickness
Grade G 0.0002" minimum thickness
CLASS 2: for engineering applications
Electroless Nickel
Nickel used when hard, smooth, uniform deposit thickness are required. Surface is easily brazed; solderable. Hardness is a function of heat-treating; (see below).
CLASS 1: as plated; not heat-treated
CLASS 2: not heat-treated to desired hardness
